Creating a life worth living∼

Considering therapy and making changes can seem both positive and very scary. My goal with each of my clients is to provide a safe and comfortable environment for them to set their own goals for healing and positive change and then to work along with them to reach those goals. I work with women, men, families, and couples with a variety of concerns including anxiety, depression, relationships, mood and emotions, past trauma, abuse, and a variety of addictions.

My bachelor of arts degree was earned from CMSU (now UCM) and my master of social work degree in 1986 from the University of Missouri. Since 1991 I have been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I am certified by the State of Missouri as a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor and also as a Certified Gambling Disorder Counselor.  In addition, I have completed training in EMDR therapy, Eye Movement Densensitization and Reprocessing, which has been found to be very effective in treating a wide variety of addictions, trauma, depression, anxiety, and pain.

My approach is eclectic and person centered with a focus on the client’s own goals and strengths. I am non-judgmental and you will find me easy to talk to, plain spoken, and casual in my style. Sometimes humor is part of therapy and can be very healing. I work hard to help my clients make the positive life changes they wish to make. Most of my work is with clients 18 and up in the following areas of practice:
